The master had people from one of his businesses get him their basic needs, such as food, in addition to bringing paperwork from, and taking it to, the master's businesses. So there had been no need for the master to leave his house. But with the pressure to find John, the master knew that he was going to have to start taking some precautions. The master needed to know how willing John was to participate in these precautions.

One day the master asked John whether he'd like to return to his previous life, and John said that he'd never been happier than he was with the master, so he had no desire to return. The master then told him that his previous employer was wanting John back and was searching for him, bringing in the police to assist. John now knew that people were looking for him.

The master also told John that his previous employer had been using the media to assist in their search, that John was now famous. The thought of being famous was a novel concept to John and was somewhat appealing to him, and he told the master this.

The master told him, "Fame is a two-edged sword. People will offer you gifts because you are famous, such as television and radio time, you will often be greeted by strangers when you go out, and your opinions will be solicited and listened to. That's the good part. But you live your life under a magnifying glass. And famous people become targets. You will become the focus of scrutiny. Anything you have done that you wish to keep hidden that will make headline news will be exposed. Would you like your bondage interest to be broadcast into everyone's home?"

John decided he didn't like being a famous person. And he really didn't want to be found now.

The master had had missing people in his house before who were being trained as slaves, but never one with the pressure to be found like John. Being a careful man, the master had long ago prepared his house for such an eventuality.

The master had a plan which required trusting John, which he decided he could do. John would do his work in the dungeon, never leaving it. If anyone came to the front door, an alarm would ring in the dungeon and John would hide in a hiding place there. John would spend nights in this hiding place. It seemed somewhat incongruous, that a kidnap "victim" would have to go to such lengths to avoid being "rescued", but that was what John's life had become.

The master had one of his people visit the fence soon after John started being in the news. The fence had property for sale, and the master's man bought a couple of items from him. When they shook hands on the deal, the master's man slipped a piece of paper to the fence on which was written, "too hot. don't try to contact. slave master". So the fence had been warned to avoid contact. Thus forewarned, the police wiretap on the fence's phone didn't produce any results regarding locating John.

The police tried pursuing John's bondage interest. But their contacts with the bondage community were poor. It took time for someone to be able to become a member in good standing, so that they could find out who were possible people that might have kidnapped John for their bondage interests, or even who in the area had a dungeon. The officer who volunteered for this effort was becoming a well established master, though with a reputation for being too punishing. He had a well-stocked dungeon with some innovative restraints. Eventually he began to know the other masters in the area. No one know anything about missing John. No one other than the police even knew that John was into bondage.

Finally the police decided to start contacting anyone known to have a dungeon in the area. That was how the police came one day to pay a visit on the master. They had already visited all the known active dungeon masters. It had been many years since it was known that the master had had a slave in his dungeon, the previous recent slaves having been obtained in rather unorthodox ways as John had been. But since the master was known to have a dungeon, he was on the list of people to check.

When the master opened the door, the police first showed him their i.d.'s, and then asked to come in. Inside the house, they told the master that they understood he had a dungeon, which he confirmed, and they then asked to see it. The master responded that that was an unusual request, and wanted to know why they wanted to see it. The police responded that they were trying to find missing John and were checking out all the known dungeons in the city, and the master replied that he understood the reason and was happy to help them, but that they wouldn't find John in his dungeon. Then he showed them downstairs.

The police took a good look around, and said they were impressed with the master's dungeon and jail cell, and asked him when was the last time he'd had someone there. He told them it had been a number of years. The police then asked why it was kept so clean if it had not been used in a number of years. The master replied that one never knows when something will be needed again, and that he always liked his possessions, including his house, clean and ready for use. The police seemed satisfied with this response, since it was in conformance with what they'd already observed. Since there was no sign of John there, they left the dungeon and checked out the rest of the house. Then they left.

The opening of the front door triggered the well tested alarm for John. This was the signal for John to take everything he had with him to go into hiding. The time the master spent with the police upstairs gave John ample time to accomplish this.

Under the stairway leading down to the dungeon, there was a secret door which opened into a little room. The door's opening was triggered by a secret button, and was not easy to find, being in a dark corner of the dungeon near the stairs. But if you knew where to look and what to push, you could access the room. In addition to all this, inside this hidden room was yet another hidden door accessed by yet another secret button, located just inside this first hidden door. This second hidden room was under the bottom part of the stairs, and could be directly accessed from the door to the first hidden room without one ever actually setting foot in the first hidden room. This way, the first hidden room would be covered with dust and cobwebs, giving the appearance that no one had been there in a long time, while John would be safely inside the second hidden room. The doors were set to stay open until another hidden button would be pushed from inside the room to close them. But they could only be opened from the outside.

On their cursory search, the police had not looked closely enough in the dungeon for such a hidden door. But if they should come back to do a more thorough search and find the first hidden door, they would find that there was nothing or no one inside the first hidden room, with no evidence of any recent activity. If asked, the master could say that he quit using that room years ago, and the evidence would support this.

There had to be extra food and liquids stored for John in this area, should it be needed, but it seemed like a good plan. One problem was that John would have to sacrifice much of his bondage life. He would have to be able at a moment's notice to move into the hidden room. At night, John would be placed in what bondage would fit, usually a hogtie, since the second hidden room, being small, did not allow much. In doing so, they had to be careful not to disturb the dust and cobwebs in the first hidden room.

John could soon place himself in the hogtie at night in the small room. He would put on the ankle cuffs with the chain between and then the hand cuffs, keeping the ankle chain looped above the cuff chain. Gags and hoods could provide a little variety. It was fortunate that John did not suffer from claustrophobia.

The lack of bondage variety was one sacrifice John would have to make in order to keep his happy bondage life with his master. Other sacrifices involved bathroom activities. John could not be long in the shower, brushing his teeth, or on the toilet seat in case the police should arrive back just at that time. He also had to be careful to quickly clean up any evidence of use of these. The master also had to give up having his cock satisfied by John for the same reason.

The next weeks and months were a difficult time for both John and the master. The master had had to start doing the housework and cooking again, as he had been doing before John's arrival. And both were on edge, not knowing when, or if, the police would return. There was no indication of what the police had planned, so they had to assume that the police would be returning at any time.

As time went by and there was no progress in locating John, the story vanished from the media, being replaced with the usual murder and mayhem. Finally the police gave up on the wiretap on the fence's phone, and arrested him for selling stolen property. When questioned about his involvement in John's disappearance, he said he knew nothing about it. He wasn't about to divulge the master's identity for fear of what the master, a powerful figure in the underground, could do to him. All the police had in the way of evidence of the fence's involvement in John's disappearance was the burglars' statement, of dubious veracity, and nothing they could take to trial.

After the trials of the burglars and the fence, which resulted in convictions for burglary and selling stolen property, the guilty were sent to prison and the question of John's disappearance seemed to become one of those mysteries that would forever remain unsolved. John's bondage interest was not mentioned at the trials. The enterprising reporter had to pursue other stories to find his success. The police never divulged John's interest in bondage which the burglars had told them about, keeping it quiet in hope of some day using it to find John.

The police figured that John had long ago been spirited out of town. They only pursued this case as intensively as they did because of the pressure from the media. The master's apparent inactivity had placed him way down the list of possible suspects. The police did not check closely enough to notice that the master seemed to consume enough food for two.

Some time after the trials were over, the master decided it was safe for John to leave the confines of the dungeon and the hidden room to return to his regular duties in the house. This also meant that John could return to his regular bondage activities which the master was happy to provide. All the hidden room preparation was just needed the one time, but it was better to be safe than sorry, no matter how stressful it turned out to be. The master didn't get to where he was without being extra cautious and careful.

The policeman assigned the duty of infiltrating the bondage community by having his own dungeon decided to continue this after John's disappearance was put into the inactive cases file. Typical of many policemen, he enjoyed punishing people, and he figured that if he encountered people that wanted to be punished, what could be better?

Before his kidnapping, John had been leading a rather dull, mundane life. This was the most excitement he had ever had, and it heightened his gratification from his bondage sessions.

The danger that John and the master jointly faced also brought them closer together. The master had trusted John to stay hidden. It would have meant many years in prison for the master if John had chosen to reveal himself. The master was taking a big chance in trusting John, but John proved trustworthy, justifying the master's judgment of John's character.

No one ever made the mortgage or property tax payments on John's house, and it was eventually taken over by the mortgage holder. John didn't mind. No amount of money could have bought the happiness he now had. He was, as the master told him at their first meeting, living in his own bondage heaven.

(Author's note - I've always been fascinated by the reliance that kidnap victims eventually have on their kidnappers, as well as their willingness to participate in their kidnappers' lives, even if it meant breaking laws. The laws in this country (U.S.) assume that people are always responsible for their actions. Thus, Patty Hearst, who was kidnapped, helped her kidnappers rob a bank while with them, and did time in prison for it after she was freed from her kidnappers. And she had a family to go back to. More recently, a lady was found in this area who had been kidnapped as a teenager 15 years prior and had two children by her kidnapper that she was raising. When freed, she would not testify against her kidnapper. But after spending time with her family, she finally started telling the authorities what her kidnapper had done to her. I've wondered how a lonely person with no family or friends would react in such a situation, when given something they've always wanted. Those were some of the inspirations for this fictitious story.)
